It goes without saying that Colnago was one of the premier brands back in the 1980’s and 1990’s, and arguably still is today. Ernesto Colnago had been the mechanic for Eddy Merckx, and he built frames for some of the greatest riders, and teams.
This particular bike was built for the powerhouse USSR track cycling team. The bikes were instantly recogniseable, Featuring the then preferred, fork mounted handlebars for a lower frontal position, and double disc wheels (Russian built Fluidisks). The bike came with the ‘drillium’ seatpost, but rest assured it was not raced this way!
