Finishing touches

There is nothing like getting a build finished, but this project has now been going for longer than 2 years, so it’s not going to get rushed now.
I have worked out that there is around 600 hours in the build of this bike. From my first thoughts, drawing up plans, finding parts, liaising, visiting, planning, frame building, frame prep, paint, Superman bar planning/building.
At $80 an hour, that’s nearly $50,000 NZD. But it of course did not cost that much. Because not only is my labour not included, the other people involved in this build have very generously charged ‘not a lot’. That’s because they are passionate about the project, passionate about seeing a stunning replica of something so historical coming together.
You may be able to tell by now, I am truly passionate about bringing a historical collection of bikes together for the cycling enthusiasts of New Zealand. And of course to the many hundreds of overseas visitors who have come and seen the collection.
I think, without a doubt, this has been the most ambitious build I have undertaken for the collection. That said, keep an eye out, there are some equally, or more incredible builds planned.
