Aerodynamics specialist Dave Higgins, has a history of working on race cars, but for about 5 years he was the Avanti bike designer too. Wind tunnels featured in the design of this bike, and they were very successful for our kiwi riders in both the sprint and pursuit events on the track.
This bike was never used in competition, and is set up as per the first prototypes, with Mavic disc wheels. At the 2016 Rio Olympic Games, these bikes rolled on the (then) all new Southern Spars disc wheels. Cycling New Zealand is still using these frames (and Southern Spars discs) today for their elite cyclists.
